We are very much an ethical business caring about what we do and working with a conscience. We are driven by our passion for good food, and excellent service in a society where everything is constantly compromised - what we eat, what we drink, how we are served - for the sake of fast profits. The Vision:
We wanted to do something very different and unique and many ideas were considered. We had already decided to focus on a catering business as Jayne was already experienced in this field and added to that my passion for good fresh food and good organisational skills it was a logical step.

We wanted to do something unique and different. Tired of witnessing bad service, sick of self service, bad coffee, bad tea and terrible cheap over processed food the concept was becoming clearer and clearer. During our research we visited many tea rooms and cafe bars and fell in love with the idea but felt it needed updating. So the vision was born!

We wanted to take the tradition of cafe bar and give it a modern touch and feel, make it popular again, make it accessible to everyone by introducing it to younger people. We imagined families enjoying leisurely meals, business meetings taking place over afternoon tea, friends enjoying fine tea with freshly baked scones and homemade jam. Excellent table service was a crucial part of the vision as was the absolute best quality in everything served.

After a lot of heavy research, recipe testing, product sourcing, tasting dozens of jams, chutneys, hams, cheeses etc and a lot of very hard work Old bank cafe bar and Tea Rooms opened in February 2008 and has been a growing success ever since!

The Staff:
We take our responsibility as employers very seriously as our staff are a crucial part of the make up of the business. We hold a good team and invest in extensive training for them to ensure that they feel valued as team members and as individuals and give them further skills for their future. It is really important to us that our staff feel proud to work at the Old Bank Cafe Bar and enjoy their work so that ultimately that way we can ensure we provide the best service to our customers.
